Intimate Fishtail and Annapurna views from a dramatic alpine ridge — without the crowds.
The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the best-kept secrets of the Annapurna region — a compact 5-day route that delivers remarkably close views of Machapuchare (the sacred Fishtail peak) and Mardi Himal, without the crowds of the Annapurna Base Camp or Poon Hill routes. Beginning and ending in Pokhara, the trek ascends a dramatic ridgeline above the Seti River gorge through ancient rhododendron and oak forest, breaking out onto an open alpine ridge with unobstructed 360-degree views of the Annapurna massif.
Despite its modest duration, the Mardi Himal Trek reaches 4,500 m at Mardi Himal Base Camp — making it a genuine high-altitude experience. The pre-dawn sunrise hike to Base Camp on Day 3 is one of the most spectacular mornings available on any short trek in Nepal. The descent via Siding Village adds an authentic cultural dimension rarely found on busier trekking routes. This is the ideal choice for trekkers with limited time who refuse to compromise on mountain grandeur.
